Final treatment

Final treatment
Target Audience
Our target audience is very varied the age ranges from 18-30 it’s mainly aimed at males but females may also watch it and enjoy it. People who are in to gangs and the streets will enjoy it as well as working class people and also some middle class people could relate to it because of the middle class character in it. Other media consumptions will be programmes like ‘silent witness’ ‘The politics show’ ‘watchdog’ and ‘panorama’ also films like ‘adulthood’ ‘bullet boy’ and ‘The inside man’.  Because of the range of themes it should appeal to a lot of different people and it has a lot of stereotypes about different people and the representations of the working class and middle class people would help it appeal to the target audience.  The unique selling point is that it shows the contrast of the working and middle class most British Social Realist films don’t show both sides it shows both characters struggle and how their paths meet.  Furthermore, although this film is aimed at British audiences it can still be seen by other audiences so that it would give them an image of the struggles which British people face in there every day lives.
Technology
The technology I’m going to use is a: Panasonic camera, tripod and iMac. All of this is suitable, the camera and tripod are so that I can film and the tripod will keep it steady because I want to look as professional as I can. The iMac will play a big part because I’m planning to do a split screen in my opening and I will be using this when I start my editing. I won’t face any limitations because my opening is going to be simple. All the props will be easy to obtain because it will be different types of cloths and the tripod/camera will be provided by the school.

Representations
The key Characters are Michael and Tony they both work for the same company. Michael is a working class guy he is a protagonist and even though he turns to the street life he is only doing it to feed his family while he’s looking for work and is very likeable. The other character is Tony who is a successful business man but turns evil when he loses his company and all his wealth he is out to get revenge and is antagonist. Tony will challenge the representation of middle class people because he will be nothing like the typical middle class man.

Narrative
The story is about a Michael a working class man and his boss Tony a middle class man because of recession they both loss their jobs. Tony losses his company and wants to take revenge on the banks. Whereas Michael just wants money so that he can survive and feed his family. So Tony meets a Fraudster and then he begins to do bank scams so he can get money and take revenge. He uses his money to persuade Michael who is having a really bad to come and work for him. With Michael doing his dirty work Tony thinks he’s unstoppable but he gets to greedy and gets caught by the police. While Michael finds a new job and gets his life back on track.
The opening sequence is Michael and Tony Waking up in the morning getting ready. We see the contrast in the lifestyles and how they are. They both are going in to work on the day they are going to get fired. We see lots of newspaper articles about the recession.  Then Tony phones Michael to tell him that he fired from work Michael is upset and gets angry with Tony. Then Tony receives a call that his business is going to go bust.
Conventions
Our opening sequence will follow the normal British Social Realist convention By showing the working class having to struggle but it will be different as it will have a middle class person in it who ends up like the working class man. This will give the film a different perspective  because  British social realist films will generally have the a working class  person throughout whereas this movie will both convey the usual themes such as violence and sex, with a twist.
Style and Iconography
I will use a range of shots so that the audience can see what is going on. The use of close ups will help the audience know what the character is feeling. Also the camera will always be close to the person that it’s like there part of it the. The use of establishing shots will help set the location and tone. The editing between shots will have to be smooth and clean to create a relaxing feeling. The costumes and props will be everyday items to create the feeling that it’s real and make the audience believe it. Sound and music will be used to create mood and also set the tone for the opening.
Institution
The production company in the brief has impacted the type of film which will be produced because of a number of reasons mainly money with a low budget we can’t do anything expensive. The audience will be the audience that film4 target which is British.  The Distribution will be limited to Britain only because of money and will be exhibited in art houses. We will put this movie up in movie festivals for a big distributer to come and help fiancé this movie because the unique selling point of the movie is  middle class person who ends up like the working class man after losing his job.
